West Virginia Wesleyan College, a private residential liberal arts college in Buckhannon, WV, invites applications for the position of Director of the School of Nursing beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year. The Director will provide academic and administrative leadership for the School of Nursing’s programs to ensure compliance with programmatic accreditation and licensure, internal consistency, core nursing student persistence, graduate passage of board licensure exam (NCLEX), and graduate outcomes that meet workplace and placement expectations. The Director will participate in curriculum development and evaluation for continuous process improvements. The Director will provide academic leadership in nursing that results in outstanding student learning outcomes, faculty development in academics and classroom management, and an environment that fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility. This is a 11-month position reporting directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the nursing programs, including curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation, budgeting, and personnel management
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate nursing faculty and staff
  • Teach courses as appropriate based on experience and program needs
  • Promote the nursing programs internally and externally through recruitment efforts
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clinical partners and preceptors
  • Engage in professional development activities to ensure currency in the field
  • Participate in college-wide service and committee work

Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in nursing or a closely related field (PhD, DNP, EdD, etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching in a bachelor’s or graduate nursing program
  • Record of nursing program leadership/administration experience
  • Eligible for RN licensure in West Virginia
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to student learning and success in a liberal arts environment
